WAEC BIOLOGY PRACTICAL 2012


Familiarize yourself with these specimens and practice how to sketch and label them correctly.
Note: This is for educational and information purpose only.

SPECIMENS:
A = GARDEN EGG [fruit]
B = TRIDAX [fruit]
C = GRAIN WEEVIL
D = TICK
E = RAT {WET PRESERVED]
F = ATLAS VERTEBRA of a small mammal
G = AXIS VERTEBRA of a small mammal
H = CERVICAL VERTEBRA of a small mammal
J = TILAPIA FISH [wet preserved]
K = TOAD [WET PRESERVED]
L = LIZARD [WET PRESERVED]
ð  
 SPECIMENS F, G, H are peculiar to candidate in Ghana, Sieria-leone and Gambia 
only.

QUESTIONS:
=======
1. Classify specimens A and B
2. State the agent of dispersal for specimens A and B
3. Draw a labelled diagram of specimen B
4. Cut specimen A into longitudinal section and label
5. State two economic importance of specimens E, D, C
6. State 2 ways by which C, D, E can be preserved.
7. Name the habitat of specimens J, K, L.
8. State two adaptive features J, L to live in their respective habitat
9. Mention two adaptive features of specimen K to live on land and in water.

WAEC 2012 UPDATE FOR CANDIDATES


Here are some things you should familiarize yourself with before the exams. 
Note: This is for informational purpose only and not solutions. 

PRACTICAL PHYSICS

Retort stand with clamp;
spring balance;
two beakers, 500cm each
(A) containing water and labelled water;
(B) containing kerosene and labelled liquid L;
set of masses 50g, 100g, 150g, 200g and 250g;
thread about 1 m

Retort stand with clamp;
Flat bottom plastic petri-dish;
Syringe about(0-10cm). Remove the needle. Pull up the plunger. Use flame from a match stick to melt and seal the tip of the syringe to ensure that it is air tight;
use appropriate (plastic to plastic) adhesive to fix the bottom of the petri-dish symmetrically to the top of the plunger;
set of masses 500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g and 2500g.
NOTE : masses may be improvised with fine dry sand.

Potentiometer (0 - 100cm);
ammeter (0 - 3A);
voltmeter (0 - 5V);
jockey;
2 ohms standard resistor labelled R;
two dry cells each 1.5V or 2V freshly charged accumulator;
plug key;
eight connecting wires.
